This view shows the octagonal marble screen which stands more than six foot high. Inside this screen stand two cenotaphs above the remains of the Emperor Shah Jehan and his favourite wife Mumtaz Mahal.

A similar view of the Screen of the Taj Mahal and of a similar date, from the collection of the Marquis of Bute was sold in Christie's London, 25 May 1995, lot 7 (£14,850).
