FIRST EDITION. Albumasar was the leading astrologer of his day. In this work he presents his thesis of creation based on the alignment of the seven planets. De magnis coniunctionibus, a translation of Kitab al-qiranat, is divided into eight ‘maqalat’: the appearance of prophets and their laws; the rise and fall of dynasties and kings; the effects of planetary combinations; the effects of each zodiacal sign’s being in the ascendant; the lordships of the planets; transits; each zodiacal sign as ‘muntaha’ and as ascendant of the revolution of the year; and lastly the revolutions of the years and the ‘intiha’at’ (DSB).
