One side stained brown, the kings and queens with galleries, the bishops with pierced mitres, knights as horses' heads, the rooks as turrets surmounted by flags, pawns with foliate baluster knops
The king -- 4½ in. (10.5 cm.) high; the pawn -- 2¼ in. (5.5 cm.) high
