AN ANTIQUE EMERALD AND DIAMOND PENDANT
The square-shaped emerald weighing 87.49 carats to the old-cut diamond border, mounted in silver and gold, circa 1850, 4.6 cm wide
Accompanied by report no. 45314 dated 16 September 2005 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the emerald is of Columbian origin, moderate clarity enhancement by oil (2)
Provenance
Galerie Jürg Stuker, Berne, November 1969, Kostbarste Juwelen aus den Nachlässen Frau Kaja Blackmer und Baronin D'Outremont, lot 2038 stating 'The emerald was aquired by Nikolaus Esterhazy around 1850 in Rome. For generations the pendant was worn to important events, the last time by Marie-Henriette, née Ziehy, who wore it in 1916 to the coronation of Karl I, Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary.'
