AN ANTIQUE GOLD CHATELAINE AND ANTIQUE SEALS
The highly ornate gold repoussé chatelaine composed of a series of articulated scrolled panels, each depicting bacchus and satyr attendants, bunches of grapes and a wine chalice, suspending five tricolored gold fob seals, the engraved and sculpted gold surmounts designed as foliate or rocaille motifs or butterflies, each set with a carved chalcedony, amethyst or bloodstone seal, trimmed by cabochon turquoise accents, (the reverse of chatelaine engraved 'G.V.L.'), chatelaine circa 1770, seals circa 1830, (combined at a later date), with English hallmarks and maker's mark
