AN APULIAN RED-FIGURE SITULA PROBABLY FROM THE GROUP OF THE DUBLIN SITULAE,
Side A: showing winged Nike holding a thyrsos and drivng a chariot drawn by two winged griffins
Side B: a naked youth carrying a coiled fillet and a bunch of grapes, pursuing a maenad who carries a casket and a flaming torch, her chiton swirling out behind as she runs to the left looking back over her shoulder, a coiled fillet in the field
an inverted palmette under each handle, above the scene an egg-and-dart border, below a band of meander interrupted by squares with dotted crosses, handle attachments on the rim imitating a metal prototype, details in added white and yellow, circa 360-350 B.C.
