Lot Essay

Sir Robert Lorimer (d.1929) was a leading designer of Scottish vernacular furniture and produced similar 'Tuscan' furniture circa 1916-1920, for Balmanno Castle, Perth. Thomas Haddon supplied metalware for Sir Robert Lorimer and could possibly have made the stretcher for this table. Sir Edwin Lutyens (d.1944) also produced similar tables, for Deanery Gardens, Surrey in 1903.
