AN AUBUSSON CARPET
Late 19th Century
The ivory field with scrolling acanthus leaf vines terminating in floral bouquets and flanked at each end with a row of garlands around a large circular shaded fox-brown medallion containing similar scrolling acanthus leaves and rose bouquets surrounded by acorn leaves and spiralling ribbon bands enclosing a fox-brown, ice-blue and beige floral centrepiece, in a raspberry-red border of scrolling acanthus leaf vine and floral bouquets between floral, plain an acorn leaf stripes, a single rosette in each corner, outer plain fox-brown wide stripe, backed, areas slight staining and negligible splits
