CASE: fully carved, the pediment with leafy strapwork between tiled panels DIALS: all on matted gilt-brass plates; Dial I; mean time chapter disc with equation of time, inscribed 'Zeitgleichung' and signed 'Joh. Überbacher/BRIXEN/TIROL', blued steel hands, above silvered and gilt zodiacal calendar, with gilt-brass dragon engraved hand and central apertures for moon phase and lunar eclipses Dial II; blue painted and silvered world time disc above silvered and engraved day and date subsidiaries, silvered and engraved month and seasonal calendar, aperture for 4000 year digital calendar, blued steel hands Dial III; 24-hour chapter ring showing the hours of sunrise and sunset via gold sun disc and silvered shutters, blue enamel centre to planetary dial below giving the orbital period of Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars, blued steel hands with gilt symbols, engraved gilt sun; Dial IV; 24-hour chapter disc, blued steel hand, subsidiaries for the seven-year cycle of the ruling planets and leap year indication, ecclesiastical calendar giving the 19-year Metonic cycle of Gregorian epacts, 28-year solar cycle of Dominical letters and 15-year indication cycle of the Roman tax years PLANETARIUM: with revolving silvered and engraved celestial sphere showing the main stars, revolving sun, moon and planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter) MOVEMENT: single going barrel, pinwheel dead beat escapement, jewelled chatons to escape wheel and pallet arbor pivots, further going barrel to drive motion work for the subsidiary indications; zinc and brass compensated pendulum, winding key, two setting keys
