The obverse is engraved with the days of the week in German with planetary symbols arranged to read off the days of the months visable through a cut-out section at the edge of the disc. It is further decorated with a picture of a lion and repeated diamond motif around the circumference. Around the circumference of the reverse is engraved CALENDRIUM PERPETUUM. There are six apertures, one revealing pictorial representations of the houses of the Zodiac; the others are entitled Maant Dagen, Nagt Lang, Dag Lang, Son Ondergang and Son Opgang and show respectively the number of days in each month, with significant Saint's days; night-time and day-time hours; and the hours of sunrise and sunset. The disc is further decorated with engravings of a bird, a sandglass, a dog, a merman herald and moon and stars.
