An early Victorian ebonised striking library clock

The case with bevelled glass panels to the sides and for viewing the movement, with brass handle cast as conjoined birds' heads, on stepped base banded with lotus leaf mouldings and raised on brass block feet, the silvered rectangular dial with geometrically engraved sight ring and entwined foliate scroll spandrels, with engraved Roman chapters and signed in the centre JOHN MOORE & SONS, London, with blued steel cruciform hands, the twin chain fusee movement with gilt platform with cut bimetallic balance to lever escapement, with strike/trip repeat on bell to the backplate; the original baize-lined pine travel box with brass handle
