The present example closely is related in design and material to a shabti for Pa-hem-neter, dedicated by May (see no. 10, pp. 27-30 in Janes, op. cit.). Both compare to examples attributed to a workshop in Memphis. According to Janes (op. cit., note 9, p. 30), the general conformity of the hieroglyphs in the first row and the exact sequence of May's title and name on both pieces suggests that the individual named May on our shabti should be identified with the May that dedicated the shabti of Pa-hem-neter.
