The white enamel dial with Roman chapters and blued steel moon hands, signed Kinable Palais Royal No.131, lacking seconds hand, the twin- barrel movement with pin-wheel escapement on the backplate, later pendulum, hour and half hour-strike on a bell, set within a canted case surmounted by an urn finial and flanked by a classical maiden lamenting over a broken water carrier, Cupid in attendance the other side, the base of the case panelled with rockwork and with a leopard-mask fountain to the base, on a palmette-moulded stepped plinth and breakfront rectangular campan mélangé marble plinth applied with Cupid in a swan-drawn chariot flanked by palmette arabesques, on bun feet

In its composition, this clock is clearly indebted to Louis XVI models after the famous pen and ink design attributed to the dessinateur/bronzier François Vion (maître in 1764). Now in the Bibliothèque Doucet (ref: VI E, 15 Ris), this same design featured in the Livre de desseins no. 31, when it was inscribed with Vion's name and priced at 450 livres.

A clock of this same basic model, with movement by Lepine, was sold from the Bunny Roger collection, Sotheby's London, January 1998, lot 80.
