The case with draped seated sleeping figure of Calliope, the dial surmounted by a lampe bouillotte on drapery,, the rectangular base with frieze decorated in relief with reading putti and foliage, with toupie feet, the dial with Arabic minutes and Roman hours, marked 'a Paris', the twin-barrel movement with Brocot suspension and countwheel strike to bell, the circular plates joined by four pillars, numbered 1878
