The case with brass-capped swan neck pediment to the hood and outset fluted columns, with painted decoration to the cresting, the trunk with short door and later painted shell and fan mock inlays, with conforming decoration to the stepped plinth, the 11in. brass dial with foliate spandrels to a silvered chapter ring, with centre engraved with swags and drops and a subsidiary seconds ring, signed BENJ.N GREENING FRAMPTON below the date aperture, the four pillar rack striing movement with strike on gong to the backboard, stamped MADE IN ENGLAND on the backplate; composite, case late 18th/early 19th century and later decorated, movement early 20th century, dial late 18th century -- 79¾in. (202.5cm.) high
