Designed in the Louis XVI 'Roman' fashion celebrating Virtue's Triumph, this beribboned medallion frame of Roman acanthus is guarded by Jove's Eagle and festooned with an abundance of fruit and flowers. J. van Thiel et al., Framing in the Golden Age, Amsterdam, 1995, no. 84).
