Lot Essay

Peter Hollins (1800 - 1886) as a young man left his native Birmingham to study in London under Chantrey and, at his best, was compared very favourably with his mentor. Perhaps Hollins's most celebrated work is the monument to Lady Bradford, executed in 1842, at Weston, in Shropshire.
