Lot Essay

For another painting of Krishna and Radha seeking refuge from the storm, in a near identical composition to the present work, see W.G. Archer, Indian Paintings from the Punjab Hills, London and New York, 1973, no.71, p.281. It is there attributed to Mandi, circa 1830-40.
