Inlaid in high relief with a monkey seated and examining a sword guard with a magnifying glass and her young resting his foot on the hilt of a sword wrapped in a brocade bag, behind them a vase of magnolia branches on a tall stand, all rendered in varicolored patinas on a medium brown ground, the reverse fitted with a ring for suspension; frame also bronze
