Of large size, with a scrolled broken pediment centred by a cartouche, with a pair of panelled doors flanked by fluted pilasters and enclosing three rows of pigeon-holes and adjustable folio-dividers with two candle-slides below, the fall enclosing a fitted interior with drawers and pigeon-holes and fitted with eight drawers, on bracket feet, the handles probably later, restorations and replacements to the feet

Lot Essay

This grand triumphal-arched bureau-cabinet has three columns of drawers, an Irish characteristic. It is similar to an Irish mahogany and parcel-gilt bureau-cabinet sold anonymously, Christie's, New York, 2 February 1991, lot 228.
