A roku-mokko iron tsuchimeji tsuba, with cherry blossom in kosukashi and karakusa in brass hirazogan, Heianjo style; and a circular iron migakiji, dotemimi tsuba with scrolling karakusa, in brass hirazogan, unsigned, Yoshiro style, 17th Century

Lot Essay

As described by Henry Joly, the second tsuba is probably by Kaga Yoshiro. Kaga inlay was undercut and, being rarely dislodged, is often found on the iron stirrups made in that Province.
