Of rectangular form, each side with applied foliated scrolling tendrils, the borders with garlands of repeating split palmette motifs, the hinged sloped lid with further floral decoration flanking avian medallions, the center with a glazed painting of a ruler sitting in a howdah on his elephant, the mahout pointing an ankus forward and a servant holding a flywhisk, the main compartment with two brass clasps, possibly to hold qalams, with brass lock, the key lacking
