AN UNGLAZED MOULDED POTTERY KASHKUL
PROBABLY NISHAPUR, NORTH EAST IRAN, 12TH CENTURY
Of typical boat form, the body moulded on each side with a sphynx roundel and to each end with two addorsed birds flanking a palmette, plaited rope band above, the flat top with moulded meandering palmette vine around a central oval depression with entwined arabesques with pierced holes, each end with a pierced concave circular panel, on domed foot with similar plaited band, central pierced panel partly broken
4¼in. (10.5cm.) high; 8¼in. (21cm.) long
