Enamelled in the famille verte style with a basket of peony, lotus, daisy, prunus and magnolia below a narrow seeded green floral band at the rim

Although this dish at first glance appears to be a standard famille verte dish, on closer inspection one finds that the peony flower in the basket is enamelled in the newly-discovered rose enamel. This was first used on Chinese porcelain in circa 1720, and after a few years of perfecting the technique became very widely and successfully used. This dish may well be one of the earliest attempts at the use of rose enamel.
