This drawing is after Battista Franco's engraving (Bartsch XVI.137.55) of a fresco of The Donation of Constantine in in the Sala di Costantino in the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican which has been attributed to both Giulio Romano and Luca Penni. There is also an ink and wash drawing by Boscoli in the Lugt collection (inv. 9171) of two of the foreground groups of figures from Battista Franco's print.
