By the mid-1920's Tom Mix had become the biggest western star in the world. Growing restless of the same old storylines, Mix persuaded the studio to try a change of pace with the production of Dick Turpin, a swashbuckling costume adventure set in England, which cast Mix as the notorious British highwayman.
