Lot Essay

The Olympia Steamship, built in 1883 in Glasgow, Scotland, was named the S.S. Dunbar Castle until 1895. This ship served the Northwest United States and Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush and was renamed the S.S. Olympia in 1895 after being sold. She remained in use until 1910 working between Washington State and Alaska. The Olympia sunk after running around on 10 Demember 1910 on the Bligh Reef off Alaska's Prince William Sound.
