We are grateful to Professor Safarik for confirming the tentative attribution. He points out that the treatment of the paint also shows similarities with the work of Domenico's father, Pietro Fetti, and compares this oil sketch with Fetti's Self portrait (Uffizi, Florence) and Saint Joseph at Hampton Court (letter, 22 September 1999).
