拍品专文

The inscription on the verso of the present drawing allows the location to be identified with some confidence: it probably shows part of the wooded region of the Veluwe which lies between Arnhem and Harderwijk. It is very close in format, style and technique to a group of drawings showing views in or near the Veluwe, of which two are in the Fondation Custodia (Rembrandt and his Century: Dutch Drawings of the Seventeenth Century, exhib. cat., New York, The Pierpont Morgan Library, and Paris, Fondation Custodia, 1978, nos. 111-112, pl. 33) and another is in the Abrams Collection (Bruegel to Rembrandt: Dutch and Flemish Drawings from the Maida and George Abrams Collection, exhib. cat., London, British Museum, and other locations, 2002-03, no. 12).
