Lot Essay

Maria Taylor was the daughter of Jonathan Spilsbury, an engraver. She exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1972 and 1794, and again between 1799 and 1808. She moved to Ireland after her marriage to John Taylor in 1809, and exhibited at the Hibernian Society in 1813 and 1814. For further information on the artist see C.
