These autochromes were taken by Vero Driffield, the business partner of Ferdinand Hurter, and joint deviser of the H & D film speed system of 1890. The studies show the Driffield garden and Driffield's daughter May. Callender ascribed a tentative date of 1907 to the autochromes. May frequently was used by Driffield in his researches. The auction catalogue is of Driffield's possessions and is described by Callender (1983).
