Matthew Boulton's unadopted medal, in silver, by C.H. Kuchler, obv. different uniformed bust of Lord Nelson facing left, rev. the fleets in action, the same as the preceeding lot (B.H.M. 584A), a modern restrike but nevertheless an attractive example of this very rare medal

It is reputed that Emma [Lady Hamilton] so disliked this portrait of Nelson when Boulton sent some strikings for her approval that he was forced to ask Kuchler to prepare the second version which was subsequently used on the issued medals.
