Lot Essay

During the period 1927-1931 there was an increasing need to create income at the Leach Pottery. Leach turned to the development of a range of decorative tiles, creating many delightful designs. For a similar design of an owl in the collection of the York Art Gallery and Museum, see John Edgeler, Slipware and St Ives, The Leach Pottery 1920-1937, (Winchcomb, 2010), p.93.
