BINDING. - The Whole Booke of Psalmes: Collected into English meeter by Thomas Sternhold, Iohn Hopkins, and others. London: for the Company of Stationers, 1624.

32° in 8s (77 x 47mm.). A-Aa8. Single column Roman text. Woodcut vignette on title. Contemporary embroidered binding of white satin, the covers with centrally placed carnation worked in red and pink silk thread and silver wire, within a blue silk and silver wire oval, surrounded by a border of silver wire, the ground with a number of symetrically placed white metal sequins, the spine in four compartments containing alternate blue and yellow flower-heads worked in silk threads, cloth ties, gilt and gauffered edges (lightly soiled, some rubbing to extremities, some loss of applied threads, ties defective). Provenance: Mary Potticary (inscription 'Mary Potticary: her Booke ex dono honorae Champneys'); Lucy Potticary (inscription).

A charming binding in good condition. STC 2588 (one copy only, in the British Library).
