BOHEMIA, Hunting maps. [1798]. A series of 4 manuscript plans of hunting grounds in Bohemia, titled Ringelberger, Thiergartner, Brandtner and Paulusbrunner, signed and dated [1]798, ink and colours on paper (various sizes between 345/453 x 320/415mm), showing numbered sections of land, woods, marshland, rivers, hills and buildings, with hunting vignettes and compass point arrows, the maps folded and mounted within pasteboards titled in gilt (a few neat repairs).
An interesting set of finely drawn, detailed and decorative plans showing the divisions of hunting grounds on adjacent properties in Bohemia. This group underlines the importance of hunting to the economies of Europe in the 18th-century. Hunting maps are rarely seen on the market.
