Lot Essay

The Bolex H8 was introduced in 1938 and used daylight loading spools of double-run Standard 8mm. films up to a length of 30m (100ft). The H8 underwent a number of changes including a Reflex model. The H series were primarily intended for professional or serious amateur use and their price reflected this. The Standard 8mm. 'pocket' range of Bolex cameras were designed to appeal to a more general market with retaining the quality and finish of the H series. These were sold as the L, C, B, D, P, K and S series of cameras. A range of Super 8 Bolex cameras were introduced in 1967 with later models being based on Eumig and Chinon designs.
A range of projectors and accessories was also built to accompany the 8mm. format.
