PROVENANCE:
1) The calendar in French has saints for every day of the year in alternate blue and red, a few in gold include Saints Pol, Yves, Anne, Denis, Martin. Many of the other saints are placed against days not at all conforming to their usual feast days. Quite a number of those point to Brittany or Normandy, such as Framboult (7 Jan.), Omer (19 Jan.), Honorine (27 Feb.), Aubin (1 March), Beath (8 March), Gobert (9 April), Lifardus (3 June), Malo (22 Oct.), Maclovius (14 Nov.), Maudetus (18 Nov.), Columban (19 Nov.), etc.
2) The Fonsèque family of Eguré, with 4 armorials in the lower margins of ff.13-16. Probably for the marriage of the parents.
3) Helene de Barbézières, wife of Philippe, with her ownership inscription on the first leaf, stating that the volume was a gift from her brother Claude Fonsèque de Surgères, seigneur d'Eguré on 25 June 1502. She married Philippe in 1497 and had 16 children between 1501 and 1520. The birth of each of them is entered on the preliminary leaves. The Barbézières were one of the grand families of Poitou. Cf. Beauchet-Filleau, Dictionnaire Historique de Familles de Poitou (1891) vol.I, p. 269ff
