Lot Essay

Erytheia was one of the Hesperides; the nymphs who tended the apple tree Golden Immortalitus in Greek mythology. Each nymph had a particular duty, and it was Erytheia's responsibility to prune and pick the apples. Earlier in his career, Anisfel'd painted a larger canvas called 'The Garden of Hesperides' which may relate to this later work.
