The soprano Adele Passy-Cornet (1838-1915) was closely associated with Brahms from the beginning of his time in Vienna, and indeed took part in Brahms’s first concert in the city, on 29 November 1862; on 24 February 1875 she sang in the first performance of Brahms’s vocal quartets op. 64/1 &2. She later founded a private singing school in Vienna, which she directed until 1881.
