Title in red and black with woodcut device, woodcut dedicatee's arms, large woodcut illustration at start of first story, approximately 370 smaller woodcut illustrations, large woodcut printer's device on final leaf. (First quire strengthened at margins, lacking ?blank (:)4, small tears in A6, Ppp4 and Uuu1, affecting text, Rrr4 with small burn hole affecting a few characters, some leaves just shaved at upper margin, affecting headlines, occasional light browning or unobstrusive marginal staining.) Modern blindstamped calf over wooden boards (lightly scuffed).

FIRST EDITION of this profusely illustrated collection of romances, which includes the tales of Octavian, Magelone, Galmy, Tristram, Camill and Emilie, Florio and Bianceffora, Theagenes and Chariclia, Gabriotto and Reinhard, Melusina, Ritter vom Thurn, Pontus and Sidonia, Herpin, and Wigoleis.
