CANADIAN MILITARY INTEREST:- A SILVER-GILT CUP AND COVER IN THE REGENCY STYLE
APPARENTLY UNMARKED, POSSIBLY CANADIAN, 19TH CENTURY
Campana form, the handles terminating in satyr masks, cover chased with acanthus leaves below a bud finial, ovolo border, applied below rim with pierced frieze of fruiting vines, acanthus leaf chasing repeated to lower body, on acanthus-bordered pedestal foot, either side applied with oak leaf and laurel framed cartouche, one inscribed with Queen Victoria's crowned monogram, the other inscribed Presented by Her Majesty Queen Victoria, to be competed for, by the English and Canadian Artillery Volunteer Detachments, at Quebec. Septr. 1884. Won by the English Volunteers, No. 2 Detachment
