Executed 1927.

The present example is one of only two casts of this particular subject by the artist. According to Janis Conner and Joel Rosenkranz, Cecil Howard's Heavyweight Boxer is the "first and largest of a series based on sports. As an accomplished archer and fencer, Howard took an active interest in athletics, including boxing and wrestling, and went frequently to Paris gymnasiums to observe and photograph matches."
