Lot Essay

Cf: Alexander von Vegesack (ed,), 100 Masterpieces from the Vitra Design Museum Collection, Weil am Rhein, 1995, p.150 (the design illustrated).

Examples manufactured between 1950 and circa 1952 featured the symmetrical arrangement of zinc struts exhibited in the present example. After circa 1952 the design of the struts was substantially modified to enhance rigidity.
