Château Cheval-Blanc--Vintage 1989
Saint-Emilion, 1er grand cru classé (A). Château-bottled
Levels: bottom neck or better; two very lightly nicked capsules, two slightly faded labels
In original wooden case
Tasting Note: "The 1989 Cheval Blanc was for me a bit of a shock. It showed an explosive nose with deep, super-ripe notes of plum, blackberry, and fig fruit character underscored by a pronounced suggestion of licorice. This is really seductive, curvaceous, almost decadent wine. It has opened now to fully to reveal it's essential nature, and gives a hint of the soy sauce unami-like aromas that it will show in years to come. The wine is full-bodied and rich, with soft tannins and a velvety mouthfeel that lingers enticingly on the palate." CC, June 2009.
