Undoubtedly my favourite claret vintage. Wines of charm, style, elegance.......Many wines are still unbelievably beautiful. An early spring dogged by two months of nightly frosts. Flowering started well but cold and rain caused some coulure. However the end was hot, thundery weather. August was one of the finest in living memory. However, rain delayed the harvest in mid-Septmber. It paid to wait. Picking commenced on October 2 in perfect weather. M.B. (GVWB II)
