Château Mouton-Rothschild--Vintage 1945
Pauillac, 1er cru classé.
High-shoulder level and deep color; label nicked at upper right corner and slightly faded
"The greatest ever Mouton. Incredible bouquet: immediately forthcoming, with a vigorous fragrance, a sort of essence of Cabernet Sauvignon, spicy, cinnamon, eucalyptus. Like the Latour it appears to have become sweeter but is still full-bodied, very rich, very concentrated, mouthfilling, spicy, still borne aloft by its alcohol, acidity and tannins, though the latter are softening - a little. What a wine. I have often given it 21 out of 20, and six stars!" JMB
