'COURAGE AND BEAUTY HAVE CONQUERED ALL'. Churchill sends thanks for Pamela's congratulations on his accepting the Order of the Garter: I took it because it was the Queen's wish. I think she is splendid'. Easter has brought Pamela 'poignant memories of dear Victor and valiant Anthony. You have indeed had fearful blows to bear in life. Still courage and beauty have conquered all'. The letter ends with further good wishes for her recovery from 'flu: 'I did not like the cough when I came to see you'.
