Golding, a Sergeant Detective of the Special Political Branch of Scotland Yard, was protection officer to Sir Winston Churchill from March 1946 until August 1947. He was a commissioned Navigating Officer in the Royal Air Force during World War II. Golding recorded his memories of Churchill, at Chartwell in particular, in various issues of Finest Hour, Journal of the International Churchill Society.
