Lot Essay

The traditional attribution to Lingelbach is supported by a similar drawing in the Städelsches Kunstinstitut, Frankfurt, E. Schilling, K. Schwarzweller, Katalog der Deutschen Zeichnungen, Alte Meister, Munich, 1973, II, no. 445, illustrated, although both differ from the artist's known drawings.
