Samuel Frederick Brocas worked as a landscape painter in both Dublin and Limerick. A watercolour of the same view by Brocas is illustrated in Patricia Butler, The Brocas Collection, Dublin, 1997, p.40. The bridge was demolished in 1840 and later rebuilt.
